New Shady Rest Campground is located near the Village of Mammoth Lakes in the Eastern Sierra. Although 3½ miles from the main cluster of lakes, the campground is close to public transportation connecting to the lakes, excellent paved bike trails, Mammoth Ski Resort, and other amenities.
More than 1,000 feet lower than the campgrounds around the lakes, New Shady Rest Campground opens earlier in the year and often stays open longer in the fall. The campground is near the original Shady Rest Campground and Pine Glen Campground.
The 92 campsites at New Shady Rest Campground may be reserved, and all of them can accommodate trailers, RVs, and tents. Campsites are located around two large loops.
