June Lake Campground

June Lake Campground, along the June Lake Loop in the Eastern Sierra, is on the southern shore of June Lake. The campground is tucked between marinas on the outskirts of the town of June Lake.

Around the June Lake Loop

Four lakes make up the June Lake Loop - June Lake, Gull Lake, Silver Lake, and Grant Lake. (see June Lake Loop map below) All the lakes are well known for their excellent Fishing. At each lake are marinas, launch ranps, and boat rentals. June Lake's and Gull Lakes's marinas are the most extensive. At the east end of June Lake is a popular beach inside the Oh! Ridge Campground.

Shoreside activities are plentiful around the lakes. Hiking trails follow lake shorelines or strike off toward scenic alpine lakes. Road cycling around the loop and mountain biking on dirt roads both attract participantas. Fall colors are magnificent, drawing photographers and artists. June Mountain Ski Resort provides scenic summer chair lift rides. Frontier Pack Train features trail rides, from an hour to all day.

June Lake Campground

June Lake Campground has 28 campsites in a mixed Aspen and pine forest along the shore of the lake, some virtually lakeside. Most campsites will accommodate small RVs, trailers, and tents. Six sites are reserved for tents-only. Many of the sites offer excellent privacy. Immediately adjacent to the campground is the June Lake Marina and within easy walking distance are the shops and restraurants of the town of June Lake. Views of spectacular Sierra peaks can be enjoyed from many places in the campground.

Campsites are equipped with picnic tables, bear-proof food storage lockers, and fire pits. Within the campground are restrooms with flush toilets and a number of drinking water spigots. There is a 14-day camping limit at June Lake Campground A short drive around the lake leads to the Oh Ridge Day-Use Area and beach.

April 26-27 Monster Trout Contest, June Lake. Prizes for the biggest trout from each Loop lake & stream, biggest rainbow, cutthroat and brown trout, heaviest weight limit, biggest fish caught by a local, a lady, and a child.

July 26 Kids Fishing Festival, Mammoth Lakes, free for kids 14 and under.

June Lake Hiking Trails

Fern Lake Trail 1.7 miles up to beautiful Fern Lake from a trailhead between Gull and Silver lakes.

Parker Lake 2 miles to magnificent Parker Lake from a trailhead on a dirt road off Highway 158 near Grant Lake.

Rush Creek Trail 7.25 miles from trailhead by Frontier Pack Station climb past Horsetail Falls. Strenuous.

Key June Lake Campground - June Lake Loop - Regulations

  1. Fires are only allowed in fire rings.
  2. Quiet Hours are from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
  3. Dogs must be on leash and attended at all times. No more than 2 pets are permitted per campsite at June Lake Campground.
  4. To avoid problems with bears, keep food in bear-proof lockers.
