Turlock Lake State Recreation Area Campground
Turlock Lake State Recreation Area is about 25 miles east of Modesto along the south side of the Tuolumne River and near the north shore of 3,500-acre Turlock Lake. Visitors enjoy boating, water skiing, fishing, and swimming. A designated swim beach is available, but no lifeguards are on duty. Windsurfing is popular at the lake. Many visitors enjoy the biking and hiking trails.
Turlock Lake State Recreation Area Campground is along the Tuolumne River about ¼-mile from the lake. Sixty-three campsites are available, 15 designated for tents and the remainder for tents or small RVs or trailers. There is also a hike and bike site.
General Camping Information
Opening and closing dates of campgrounds are only estimates, usually dependent on weather conditions. Not all campsites can accommodate trailers or RVs of all lengths. Check carefully on the reservation website when you make your reservation to be sure your vehicle will fit your campsite.
In order to prevent the spread of invasive insects, obtain firewood locally.
