Ackerman Campground

Ackerman Campground is on the shore of Lewiston Lake in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. The lakeside campground is particularly popular with anglers and boaters. The campground is less than a mile downstream from Trinity Dam. Pine Cone boat launch ramp is 2 miles to the south. Motorized boats are restricted to 10 MPH on Lewiston Lake. Kayakers are often seen skimming along the crystal waters.

Ackerman Campground has 51 campsites for RVs, trailers, and tents. Although many shaded campsites can be found, others are lacking in shade. The sites are spread along the shore of the lake, making for easy access. The North Loop is open year-round and the entire campground is open from April through October. The campground has no potable water.

Opening and closing dates of campgrounds are only estimates, usually dependent on weather conditions. Not all campsites can accommodate trailers or RVs of all lengths. If using a reservation website, check to be sure your vehicles will fit in the parking space for your campsite.

Campers at Ackerman Campground are right on the shores of Lewiston Lake and close to Trinity Lake.

  • Five-mile long Lewiston Lake is a great place for canoes and kayaks. Fish for rainbow trout, brook trout, and brown trout.
  • Fly fish from float tubes in Lewiston Lake where is the speed limit is 10 MPH.
  • Trinity Lake has 17,000 surface acres and 145 miles of shoreline, great for fishing, boating, water skiing
