Upper Kings River Group Campground
Upper Kings River Group Campground sits along the Kings River near the base of the dam at Wishon Reservoir in the Sierra National Forest. The campground is operated by PG&E. Wishon Reservoir is popular for fishing and boating. Only a short walk from the group campground are a number of wheelchair accessible fishing platforms along the Kings River. These platforms make the campground a great choice for anglers with mobility difficulties or for supervised small children who want to fish.
With a 15 MPH speed limit, Wishon Reservoir is popular for paddling kayaks, canoes and rafts. Trails lead into the John Muir wildernesses. From Shaver Lake it is a 29-mile drive to Wishon Reservoir.
Upper Kings River Group Campground has 5 campsites which form a single group campground for up to 50 people. Each of the 5 campsites has 2 picnic tables, a fire ring, a lantern holder, and pads for 3 tents. There is a central food service area with 2 food preparation tables, 2 BBQ grills, and a food storage building. The group site also has a large fire ring with 10 benches. There is a 2-night minimum stay.
