Catavee Campground is located on the north shore of Huntington Lake in the Sierra National Forest. Huntington Lake is a popular recreation area with several resorts and marinas along its shore. Visitors to the area enjoy boating, fishing, hiking, and relaxing in the fresh mountain air.

Catavee Campground has 24 campsites in a pine and fir forest across the road from Huntington Lake. Some campsites have views of Bear Creek and others of the lake. All the campsites can accommodate RVs, trailers, and tents. Some campsites have good privacy.

There is a minimum 2-night stay on weekends and 3 nights on holiday weekends. Before entering a campsite, campers are asked to check in at the Eastwood CLM office located at the east end of Huntington Lake.

Local hiking trails include Rancheria Falls (1 mile), Indian Pools (1 mile) and Black Point (.7 miles). Enjoy hiking trails into the Kaiser Wilderness.

Key Catavee Campground Regulations

  1. Keep food and other scented items in bear-proof lockers or canisters.
  2. While in the campground dogs must be on leash and always attended.
  3. Quiet time is from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
  4. To avoid bringing in invasive pests, outside firewood is not permitted. Obtain firewood locally.

General Camping Information

Opening and closing dates of campgrounds are only estimates, usually dependent on weather conditions. Not all campsites can accommodate trailers or RVs of all lengths. If using a reservation website, check to be sure your vehicles will fit in the parking space for your campsite.

In order to prevent the spread of invasive insects, obtain firewood locally.
