Dinkey Creek Campground

Dinkey Creek Campground is located along the banks of its namesake creek about 12 miles east of Shaver Lake in the Sierra National Forest. Visitors to the area are often interested in fishing, mountain biking, and hiking as well as enjoying the beauty of the forest. Dinkey Creek has 2 swimming areas - The Slicks and Honeymoon Pool, both of which contain pools carved out of granite. During the summer, interpretive programs are presented at the campground's amphitheater.

Dinkey Creek Campground has 122 campsites. Fifty-two of the sites are designated as tent-only sites; the other 70 sites can accommodate RVs, trailers, and tents. A large number of campsites are designed for people with disabilities and should be bypassed by those without disabilities, unless there are no other campsites available. Dinkey Creek Campground also has a Group Campsite.

There is a minimum 2-night stay on weekends and 3 nights on holiday weekends.

Facilities near Dinkey Creek Campground: The Dinkey Creek Inn and Store is located nearby and offers a pay phone, small grocery store and fishing supplies. The Dinky Creek Inn Cafe sells breakfast items and sandwiches. Operating hours vary during the off-season. Accessible pay showers are also available on site while the Inn is open. The Dinkey Creek Ranger Station is located nearby and is open 7 days a week from May through September.

Dinkey Creek Group Campsite

Dinkey Creek Campground has one group campsite which can accommodate up to 50 people and 10 vehicles. The campsite is equipped with picnic tables and fire grills. A mature conifer forest provides excellent shade. Reservations can be made for today and for up to 12 months in advance of arrival date.

Dinkey Creek Campground is only 12 miles from Shaver Lake. Many campers head over to the lake for the day. Southern California Edison Company operates a series of lakes, all of which provide wonderful opportunities for outdoor recreation. Among the lakes are Lake Thomas A. Edison, Florence Lake, Huntington Lake, and Shaver Lake.

Opening and closing dates of campgrounds are only estimates, usually dependent on weather conditions. Not all campsites can accommodate trailers or RVs of all lengths. If using a reservation website, check to be sure your vehicles will fit in the parking space for your campsite.
