Northern Region Campgrounds
Campgrounds in the northern region of California range from scenic little, lakeside hideaways to magnificent state parks and national monuments to exotic boat-in campgrounds. Their settings can be in the high desert, in thick forests, or perched on the slopes of Mount Shasta.
The only Group Campsites among the campgrounds we have reviewed are at Indian Well Campground at Lava Beds National Monument.
The only Equestrian facilities among the campgrounds we have reviewed are found adjacent to Soup Springs Campground near the South Warner Wilderness. Pepperdine Equestrian Campground, which is not included in this guide, is also located in the Warner Mountains.
