Twin Lakes Campground - Mammoth Lakes

Twin Lakes Campground - Mammoth Lakes is divided into 2 areas connected by a narrow causeway between the Twin Lakes. Both sections of the campground are popular with campers.

Mammoth Lakes

Five main lakes form the beautiful Mammoth Lakes of the Eastern Sierra. Combined with the village of Mammoth Lakes and the ski resort at Mammoth Mountain, the entire Mammoth Lakes region draws visitors and vacation home owners from as far away as Los Angeles and San Francisco. Summer recreation includes hiking, boating, fishing, horseback riding, and mountain biking. Several marinas on the lakes offer boat rentals for slow-speed boating. Mammoth Mountain ski slopes become mountain biking trails. Hikers strike out for nearby alpine lakes or cross Minaret Summit into Reds Meadow where they can pick up the Pacific Crest Trail and John Muir Trail.

Around the village and connecting to the lakes is a paved bike/walk trail. Mammoth Village has a variety of nice restaurants and shops. Up at the foot of Mammoth Mountain the Mammoth Mountain Adventure Center is the base for a multitude of activities, many geared for children. Among them are a rock climbing wall, a bungee trampoline, a ropes course, and zip lines. At nearby Woolly's Adventure Summit they offer mountain coaster rides and summer tubing. Top it off with a scenic gondola ride.

Twin Lakes Campground

Twin Lakes Campground is nearly always busy, so make reservations early. Campsites on the eastern shore are known as the Upper Lake. A number of sites are lakeside. Campsites on the western side are mostly back among the trees and closer to amenities like the store and boat rentals. Within the campground is a boat ramp and fishing pier. At the head of the upper lake are pretty Twin Falls.

All 94 sites in Twin Lakes Campground - Mammoth Lakes can accommodate RVs, trailers, and tents. All are within easy walking distance of the lakes and other facilities. A special plus at Twin Lakes Campground is that they offer hot showers at the nearby general store. Every campsite has a picnic table, fire ring with grill, and a bear-proof food locker. Restrooms with flush toilets and drinking water are provided. The maximum length stay here is 7 days.
