Old Shady Rest Campground is located near the Village of Mammoth Lakes in the Eastern Sierra. The campground neighbors New Shady Rest Campground. The Mammoth Lakes Welcome Center is within easy walking distance, as is the Village of Mammoth Lakes.

The Mammoth Lakes Free Trolley connects the campground with key points in the village and the lakes. Cyclists can follow a paved bike trail up to the lakes.

The 45 campsites at Old Shady Rest Campground are spread around a single large loop in a spindly pine forest. Sites tend to be rather close together without any understory foliage to provide privacy. All sites can accommodate RVs, trailers, or tents.

Key Old Shady Rest Campground Regulations

  1. Avoid problems with bears, by keeping food in bear-proof lockers if provided.
  2. Fires are only allowed in fire rings.
  3. Quiet Hours are from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
  4. Dogs must be on leash and attended at all times. No more than 2 pets are permitted per campsite.
