Tule Campground

Tule Campground is in the Tule Recreation Area along the shore of Success Lake near Porterville in Tulare County. The recreation area is owned by the Army Corps of Engineers and operated jointly with Tulare County Parks. With 2,450 surface acres, Success Lake is popular for boating, waterskiing, sailing, kayaking, swimming, and fishing.

A marina provides boating supplies, fuel, and boat rentals. Temperatures at the lake can be over 100 degrees in the summer. In the springtime wildflowers bloom on nearby foothills, creating a dazzling display of color. Saturday campfire programs are provided in the summer.

RV Camping and Tent Camping at Tule Campground

Tule Campground offers 103 campsites for RV camping and tent camping. The campground rests on the northeastern shore of the lake among widely scattered trees. Twenty-nine campsites have electric RV hook-ups (30 and 50 amp). The campground has many accessible features, making it popular with anyone who has mobility difficulties. All driveways are paved. Tule campground is open year-round.

Visitors to Success Lake enjoy all kinds of boating as well as hiking, cycling, and picnicking. Campers at Tule Campground are close to the marina and launch ramps.

  • Enjoy a day on the lake boating, watrerskiing, and fishing.
  • Kayakers like exploring the many inlets around the lake.
  • Visit the Kincade Cove Wildlife Management Area on the northwest side of the lake.
  • Downstrean from the dam find Bartlett Park with picnic tables, group picnic shelters, playgrounds, and a softball field.
  • In nearby Porterville take your pick of the Skate Park at Veterans Park,the Porterville Museum, and the historic Zalud House.
  • In nearby Springville tour the Giant Sequoia Mercantile at the Springville Visitors Center
  • Drive up the highway and take Bear Creek Road into the Mountain Home Demonstration State Forest for magnificent groves of Giant Sequoias. Find excellent camping around the forest there: Nothern Sequoia National Forest Campgrounds.

  1. Campground gates are closed from 10 PM to 6 AM.
  2. Quiet Hours are from 10 PM to 6 AM.
  3. Dogs must be leashed and attended. Dogs must be confined to a vehicle or tent at night.
  4. Campfires are allowed in appropriate fire-rings and other containment depending on wind and weather conditions and may change anytime.

Opening and closing dates of campgrounds are only estimates, usually dependent on snow conditions. Not all campsites can accommodate trailers or RVs of all lengths. If using a reservation website, check to be sure your vehicles will fit in the parking space for your campsite.
