Boulder Gulch Campground

Boulder Gulch Campground is located in the Sequoia National Forest off Highway 155 on the west side of Lake Isabella. Hungry Gulch Campground is nearby on the opposite side of the highway. Visitors to Boulder Gulch Campground enjoy fishing, swimming, boating, and waterskiing in Lake Isabella. The campground is only a short hop from the North Fork Marina. The campground is equipped with fish cleaning stations and a children's playground. Living up to its name, Boulder Gulch has many large rocks around it.

Boulder Gulch Campground has 58 campsites. All of the campsites can accommodate trailers, RVs, and tents. Some campsites are in shade while others are more open. The campground includes 16 double sites.

Attractions near Boulder Gulch Campground: Head for Lake Isabella for fishing and boating. Stop in at the North Fork Marina with a store and boat rentals. Learn about the area at the Lake Isabella Visitor Center. Head up north to the Trail of 100 Giants. The trail is an accessible walk through Long Meadow Grove of Giant Sequoias, Visit the towns of Kernville and Wofford Heights. Head out for a day of mountain biking or hiking.

General Camping Information

Opening and closing dates of campgrounds are only estimates, usually dependent on weather conditions. Not all campsites can accommodate trailers or RVs of all lengths. If using a reservation website, check to be sure your vehicles will fit in the parking space for your campsite.

In order to prevent the spread of invasive insects, obtain firewood locally.

Key Boulder Gulch Campground Regulations

  1. Campfire permits are required for campfires, barbecues, and camp stoves.
  2. ATVs or OHVs are not permitted anywhere around Lake Isabella with the exception of the Motocross track located nearby.
  3. Glass containers are prohibited around Lake Isabella and along the Kern River.
  4. Swimming in the Kern River is dangerous due to strong currents and other hazards.
