Lake Jennings Campground

Lake Jennings Campground is 23 miles northeast of San Diego, spread across a knoll overlooking the lake. Lake Jennings is operated by the Helix Water District. Since it provides drinking water for the area, contact with the lake's water is not permitted. Still, visitors enjoy boating and fishing, along with hiking, bird watching. Boat rentals are available as well as a launch ramp.

The campground includes a large pavilion, a covered outdoor playground structure, and an outdoor lounge area. Children also enjoy playing ladder golf, horseshoes, foosball, ping pong, tetherball and more.

RV Camping and Tent Camping at Lake Jennings Campground

Lake Jennings Campground features 97 campsites. Thirty-three of the campsites are pull-through sites with full hook-ups. Eleven sites are pull-throughs with partial hook-ups. Seven sites have partial hook-ups and are back-in sites. Super Sites feature a half-enclosed pavilion, picnic tables and fire rings that can accommodate up to 12 people.

Of the other sites, 6 are walk-in, tent-only sites. The remainder of the campsites have no hook-ups and are for RVs, trailers, and tents. WiFi is available throughout the campground. Friday and Saturday reservations require a 2-night stay; holiday weekends, a 3-night stay.

Lake Jennings Campground includes a group campsite which can accommodate up to 30 people and 15 tents.
Fees: $100 per night for adult and family groups, $75 for youth groups.

Attractions and Activities

Campers at Lake Jennings Campground find so many things to do, they may never want to leave. Still, there are other attractions outside the park worth visiting.


Key Lake Jennings Campground Regulations

  1. Bicycles are restricted to Bass Road and paved campground roads.
  2. Sleeping Outdoors is not permitted.
  3. No wading, swimming or body contact with reservoir water is permitted.
  4. Campsites can accommodate one camping unit, one tent, and one vehicle or two tents and one vehicle unless authorized by the Ranger.
  5. Fires are only allowed in designated fire rings and must be extinguished by 11:00 PM.
  6. Generators may be operated on sites without electrical power between 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Generators are required to have mufflers.
  7. Quiet Hours extend from 9:00 PM and 7:00 AM.
  8. Pets must be kept on leash and attended at all times. A maximum of 3 pets are permitted per campsite.
  9. Access Gates are closed from 5:30 PM to 7:30 AM. Registered guests can access the campground by using the access code provided when they checked in.
