Dixon Lake Campground

Dixon Lake Campground is in the foothills, 6 miles northeast of Escondido. The Dixon Lake Recreation Area is operated by the city of Escondido. Although no body contact is allowed with the lake water, fishing is popular. The speed limit on the lake is 5 MPH. Boats are available to rent. Outside boats are not permitted. An easy nature trail is a favorite of campers.

Dixon Lake Campground has 45 campsites above the lake for RVs, trailers, and tents. Eleven of the sites have full hook-ups. Many of the sites have wonderful views of the lake or surrounding area. Take note that raccoons have been pesky at the campground. Never leave food or trash unattended. Put food in the storage locker or your car. Secure trash can lids.

For complete information about problems with raccoons and for rules about dogs, see Dixon Lake Camping Information

Group camping is available. For reservations call (760) 839-4045, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
