Forks Campground - Inyo National Forest visitors know they are only a short drive from two beautiful fishing lakes - South Lake and Lake Sabrina. Hikers often set out from the trailhead at Lake Sabrina into the Sabrina Basin for day trips or overnight stays at one of the picturesque alpine beautiful lakes.

Others set out from South Lake, finding a number of beautiful lakes only a few miles up the trail. Photographers and nature lovers gather in the Bishop Creek valley during autumn when the colors of the aspens are spectacular.

Forks Campground - Inyo National Forest has 21 campsites. The nicest sites are found among aspens and pines. Other sites are exposed in a field of sage. There are some double sites. All of the sites can accommodate RVs, trailers, and tents. The maximum stay at Forks Campground is 14 days.

General Camping Information

Not all campsites can accommodate trailers or RVs of all lengths. Purchase firewood locally to avoid spreading pests. The length of time campers may stay at a particular Forest Service campground varies. Usually it is 14 days, but some allow longer stays while a few of the most popular campgrounds limit stays to 7 days.

Accessible Sites

Designated Accessible sites are usually reserved for people with disabilities who have a vehicle displaying an accessible parking placard or license plate.

Key Forks Campground Regulations

  1. Keep bears away by storing your food and scented items in bear-proof lockers.
  2. Quiet Hours are observed from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
  3. Generators may not be operated during quiet hours. Beyond that, there is a three-hour maximum run time. Generators must be attended while running.
  4. Dogs must be on leash and attended at all times. No more than 2 pets are allowed per campsite.
  5. Fires are only permitted in provided fire rings. Collect only down and dead wood.
