Forks Campground
Forks Campground is located off South Lake Road immediately after it splits from Highway 168. Visitors to the campground know they are only a short drive from South Lake and Lake Sabrina. Both lakes are popular for fishing. The speed limit on Lake Sabrina is 10 MPH. Hikers often set out from the trailhead at Lake Sabrina into the Sabrina Basin for day trips or overnight stays at one of the picturesque alpine beautiful lakes.
Others set out from South Lake, finding a number of beautiful lakes only a few miles up the trail. Photographers and nature lovers gather in the Bishop Creek valley during autumn when the colors of the aspens are spectacular.
Forks Campground has 21 campsites. The nicest sites are found among aspens and pines. Other sites are exposed in a field of sage. There are some double sites. All of the sites can accommodate RVs, trailers, and tents.
The maximum stay at Forks Campground is 14 days.
General Camping Information
Not all campsites can accommodate trailers or RVs of all lengths. Purchase firewood locally to avoid spreading pests. The length of time campers may stay at a particular Forest Service campground varies. Usually it is 14 days, but some allow longer stays while a few of the most popular campgrounds limit stays to 7 days.
