Greenhorn Campground
Greenhorn Campground is on a northern arm of Rollins Lake, 7 miles from Colfax. Rollins Lake is operated by the Nevada Irrigation District (NID); however, NID does not operate Greenhorn Campground. Campers at Rollins Lake enjoy all kinds of water sports, including swimming, waterskiing, and wakeboarding. Jet skis are allowed on the lake. Fishing is good for trout, Kokanee, catfish, and bass. Greenhorn Campground has a boat launch ramp, limited boat rentals, a swim beach, store, game room, and horseshoes.
Greenhorn Campground features about 40 campsites on gravel or dirt pads. Some of the campsites are lakefront. Campsites are divided into several areas such as Rocky Point, Lake Front, Meadow, Pine Grove, Cabana, and Wagon Wheel.
Boaters passing lakefront sites on Rocky Point are inside a no wake zone, but they do not always respect the signs. Meadow and Wagon Wheel sites have limited shade. Pine Grove sites are well shaded, but some are on slopes. Boats can be moored beside Lake Front campsites. There is an additional fee of $7 per day for each boat.
General Camping Information
Opening and closing dates of campgrounds are only estimates, usually dependent on snow conditions. Not all campsites can accommodate trailers or RVs of all lengths.
In order to prevent the spread of invasive insects, purchase firewood locally.
Accessible Sites
Designated Accessible sites are usually reserved for people with disabilities who have a vehicle displaying an accessible parking placard or license plate.
