Indian Grinding Rock Campground
Indian Grinding Rock Campground is part of Indian Grinding Rock State Historic Park near the town of Pine Grove along Highway 88 in Amador County. The 135-acre park includes open meadows and valley oaks, once a popular camping area for Native Americans. MiWok Indians ground acorns in limestone outcroppings, forming more than a thousand mortar holes. Visitors to the park enjoy learning about MiWok life in the region by visiting the park's museum, grinding rocks, and other park attractions.
Indian Grinding Rock Campground contains 22 campsites for tents and small RVs or trailers. Campsites are shaded by oaks. Only two tents may be set up in each campsite. Reservations are now accepted for the campsites year-round.
Environmental Living/Group Camping is offered in traditional Native American bark houses in a secluded area of the park.
