Lake Campground

Lake Campground is located at the eastern end of ¼-mile long Jackson Lake in the Angeles National Forest. Visitors to the campground enjoy fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and swimming. Motorized boats are not allowed on the lake. A drive along Angeles Crest Scenic Byway makes a wonderful day-trip. A variety of hiking trails lead out from the area around Jackson Lake.

Lake Campground has 8 campsites which may be reserved ahead of time. The well-shaded campsites can accommodate RVs, trailers, and tents. Supplies are available about 5 miles away in the town of Wrightwood.

General Camping Information

Opening and closing dates of campgrounds are only estimates, usually dependent on snow conditions. Not all campsites can accommodate trailers or RVs of all lengths.

In order to prevent the spread of invasive insects, firewood from outside the area is not permitted.

Accessible Sites

Designated Accessible sites are reserved for people with disabilities who have a vehicle displaying an accessible parking placard or license plate.

Visitors to Lake Campground by Jackson Lake

in the Angeles National Forest find a wide variety of destinations to explore in the San Gabriel Mountains

  • Go mountain biking on the San Gabriel Peak Trail or the West Fork National Recreation Trail.
  • Cast your fishing line into Crystal Lake or Little Rock Reservoir.
  • Hike the Burckhardt and Pacific Crest trails through the Pleasant View Ridge Wilderness.
  • Hike the 10-mile Mt. Waterman Trail from Three Points to Buckhorn.
  • Enjoy hiking in the sub-alpine setting of the Cucamonga Wilderness, perhaps glimpsing some Nelson bighorn sheep.
  • Set off backpacking in the Sheep Mountain Wilderness.

Key Lake Campground Regulations

  1. Fires are only permitted in fire rings.
  2. Quiet Hours run from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
  3. Dogs must be on leash and attended at all times.
  4. A National Forest Adventure Pass is needed for vehicles parked in non-fee campgrounds in the Angeles, Cleveland, Los Padres and San Bernardino National Forests.
