Lower Jones Valley Campground

Lower Jones Valley Campground is in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, near the Pit River Arm of Shasta Lake. Visitors to the campground are close to good fishing, water skiing, wakeboarding, boating, and hiking. Nearby Jones Valley Boat Ramp provides access to to the lake. Also nearby, Silverthorn Resort and Jones Valley Resort have marinas with boat rentals.

Lower Jones Valley Campground has 10 campsites which can accommodate small RVs, trailers, and tents. Oak trees provide partial shade for the campsites. Most of the sites are spaced apart enough to offer some privacy. Nearby Upper Jones Valley Campground is used as an overflow campground in the summer, but has a less desirable location away from the water.

Location: 9 miles east of Shasta Lake City. Exit I-5 at #267 and follow Old Oregon Trail 3 miles to Bear Mountain Road. Go 8½ miles to Dry Creek Rd. Turn left, watch for signs.

Opening and closing dates of campgrounds are only estimates, usually dependent on weather conditions. Not all campsites can accommodate trailers or RVs of all lengths. If using a reservation website, check to be sure your vehicles will fit in the parking space for your campsite.

Shasta Lake is one of the most popular recreation lakes in the state. Campers at Lower Jones Valley Campground are close to several excellent marinas and only a short drive from many other lake attractions.

  • At full capacity Shasta Lake has 30,000 surface acres and 365 miles of shoreline.

  • Summer interpretive programs on weekends at many campgrounds
