Sanborn County Park Campground
Sanborn County Park is in the Santa Cruz Mountains, 3 miles west of the town of Saratoga. The 3,453 acres of the park stretch from Saratoga to Skyline Boulevard with 22 miles of scenic trails winding through lush forests of redwoods and oaks. Visitors enjoy the easy, shaded Lake Ranch Trail and a 1-mile nature trail. In the summer Silicon Valley Shakespeare, an outdoor Shakespearean company, presents plays at the park's 300-seat amphitheater.
Sanborn County Park Campground has 15 RV campsites and 33 walk-in tent-camping sites. The RV campsites are in a parking lot setting. Sites have water and electric (20 and 30 amp) hook-ups. Tents are not allowed in the RV section. While the RV section of the campground is open year-round, the walk-in tent sites are closed from the 3rd Sunday of October until the 3rd Friday of March.
The walk-in sites are in a deeply shaded area near a seasonal creek. Most of the campsites are well separated from one another. Access is via a paved service road that becomes a steep uphill climb, especially for those with higher numbered campsites. Push carts are provided to help transport camping gear from the parking lot to the campsites. Vehicles are not permitted at the campsites.
Youth group tent camping for up to 40 people is available at the very top of the walk-in campground. The fee is $100 per night.
