California's Best Camping:
Trinity River Campgrounds
Campgrounds along the forks of the Trinity River tend to be small and with few outstanding amenities. All of the campgrounds, however, offer easy access to the wonderful recreational opportunities along the river. Whitewater rafting and kayaking are popular. For those lacking the necessary experience, there are a number of great rafting companies in the area which provide guided trips. Another big attraction of the Trinity River is its excellent fishing, especially for steelhead during the winter months.
Group campsites are available at Hayden Flat Campground.
For those seeking something unusual, consider renting the Forest Glen Guard Station, a rustic 1916 cabin near Forest Glen Campground. The cabin has a kitchen, bathroom, and room to sleep up to eight.
