North Grove Campground
North Grove Campground is located in the heart of Calaveras Big Trees State Park, close to the North Grove of Giant Sequoias and the Visitor Center. The relatively flat campground spreads through a mature conifer forest. An adjacent meadow is filled with wildflowers in the spring. Any time of year the edge of the meadow or the boardwalk across the meadow are great places for star gazing.
Most of the 58 campsites in the North Grove Campground can accommodate tents, RVs, or trailers, but about a third are set aside as tent-only sites. Some campsites are close to Highway 4 and may experience some road noise.
Four cabins are available for rent at Calaveras Big Trees State Park. They are located across Highway 4 and short distance up from the park entrance. Every cabin has a kitchen with basic kitchen appliances and tableware, a living room, 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. Cabins sleep 6-9 people, depending on which one you select. The cabins all share a recreation center.
Stroll through Calaveras Big Trees State Park's North Grove of Giant Sequoias. Drive down to the South Grove. Stand on the Big Stump. Visit Jack Knight Hall. Explore various hiking trails. Tour the visitor center.
The two group camps in the North Grove Campground are designated to hold up to 16 people and up to 4 vehicles. One site can accommodate tents, RVs or trailers; the other site is tent-only.
