Middle Creek Campground
Middle Creek Campground is along the creek between Upper Blue Lake and Lower Blue Lake. Campsites are nestled among the trees and rocks. Middle Creek Campground is 1 mile beyond Lower Blue Lake Campground.
Blue Lakes are owned by the Pacific Gas & Electric Company, which oversees the campgrounds. Blue Lakes Road leaves Highway 88 in the Hope Valley on the east side of Carson Pass. A 12-mile drive leads to the cluster of lakes which includes Upper and Lower Blue Lakes as well as Twin Lakes, Meadow Lake, and a number of other smaller lakes. An unimproved boat ramp is nearby.
Middle Creek Campground has only 5 campsites, but across the road in the Middle Creek Expansion Area are an additional 35 campsites. The campsites at Middle Creek can accommodate RVs, trailers, and tents. Most campsites are first-come, first-served, but a few may be reserved. Reservations can be made online as late as 3 days prior to arrival. A 2-night stay is required for those arriving on Friday or Saturday.
