Lake Cahuilla Campground

Lake Cahuilla Campground is part of Riverside County's Lake Cahuilla Veterans Regional Park, at the base of the Santa Rosa Mountains in the Coachella Valley. The 710-acre park features excellent fishing, horseback riding, hiking, and a refreshing swimming pool. Visitors play sand volleyball and Bocce ball. An open grass picnic area is great for a range of activities. The nearby towns of La Quinta (shown above), Coachella, Palm Desert, and Palm Springs offer a variety of attractions. Visitors can ride the Palm Springs Aerial tramway to the summit of Mt. San Jacinto, play golf at a number of poplar courses, enjoy the many local restaurants and shops.

Lake Cahuilla Veterans Regional Park is most popular during the cooler months of the year. During the summer from May 1 to June 30 the park is closed Wednesdays and Thursdays. From July 1 to September 30, the park is closed Tuesday through Thursday. At other time of the year is open 7 days a week.

Lake Cahuilla Campground features 96 individual campsites as well as group campsites. Of those, 62 sites have hook-ups, 10 have water hook-ups only, and 35 are dry camping sites with water spigots nearby. Equestrian campers have a selection of 20 campsites with horse corrals available.

Noise from a nearby shooting range can be heard in the campground. There is no swimming or boating in the lake.

Take note of the $4 per night pet fee, grab a lakeside site if you can along with other large RVs and quiet campers, great staff at Lake Cahuilla, there is a rifle range across the lake (but gunshots are distant and not bothersome), watch for big horn sheep on the mountainsides.
