Goumaz Campground

Lassen National Forest

Goumaz Campground

Goumaz Campground is in the Lassen National Forest south of Hog Flat Reservoir and 16 miles west of Susanville. With only 5 campsites, Goumaz Campground might be overlooked if it weren't along the wonderful Bizz Johnson National Recreation Trail.

Those outside the greater Susanville area may not be aware of 25.4-mile-long Bizz Johnson Trail, but locals know it well as an exceptional hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding route. Established on an old railroad grade, the Bizz Johnson Trail is virtually level. For much of its course it follows the Susan River, crossing it a dozen times on bridges and trestles. In addition, the Bizz passes through 2 tunnels, one 450 feet long and the other 800 feet.

Goumaz Campground has only 5 campsites along the Susan River. Sites can accommodate RVs, trailers. and tents. Soaring Ponderosa pines provide ample shade. All of the sites are first-come, first-served.
