Forest Glen Guard Station
Forest Glen Guard Station was erected in 1916. serving as a rustic outpost for Forest Service personnel. In more recent years, the guard station has been renovated and is now available as a rental cabin for up to 8 people. Among the improvements made to the guard station are the addition of electricity and running water, including an indoor bathroom with a shower and flush toilet.
Forest Glen Guard Station Features
The Guard Station has two levels. On the lower level is a kitchen with an electric range, a refrigerator, possibly a microwave, table and chairs, a futon couch that doubles as a bed, and an indoor bathroom. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, pots, pans, and utensils. Upstairs is a king bed in one room and two twin beds in another. Along the front of the cabin is a 5-foot-high covered porch.
Nearby Activities
One of the main attractions at the cabin is the natural beauty of the area. Ponderosa pine, Douglas Fir, and oak grow in the surrounding forest; however, a recent forest fire has caused some damage. Charming Glen Creek flows past the cabin. Nearby, the South Fork of the Trinity River (shown above) provides fishing and swimming (when water levels are safe). From across the highway at Forest Glen Campground a trail leads for more than 7 miles along the South Fork.
