Wench Creek Campground

Wench Creek Campground is on the northeast side of Union Valley Reservoir in the Crystal Basin area of the Eldorado National Forest. The family campground is separated into 3 loops spread through a Ponderosa pine forest. Nearby is a Group Camp with 2 sites which can accommodate up to 50 people each.

The main Wench Creek Campground has tent-only sites as well as sites suitable for RVs, trailers, or tents. The paved bike trail along the shore of the reservoir connects Wench Creek Campground with other nearby campgrounds and popular beach and boating areas. A trail from the campground leads down to the lake.

Wench Creek Group Camps

Wench Creek Group Campground is near the main family campground. At the group campground are 2 sites, one which is walk-in, tents-only and the other which accepts RVs, Trailers (up to 35') and tents. Either site can accommodate up to 50 people. The campgrounds each have restrooms with flush toilets, piped drinking water (about 100 yards away), 8 picnic tables, 1 serving table, 3 group pedestal grills, and 1 group fire ring.

General Camping Information

When making reservations be sure that your vehicle will fit in the space indicated on the reservations website.
Information is available at the Crystal Information Station east of Union Valley Reservoir on Ice House Road during the summer.
Horses and motor vehicles are not permitted on the bike trails at Union Valley Reservoir. Horses are permitted on the Ice House Reservoir bike trail.
For campground purposes, a vehicle is any equipment that is required to be licensed/registered. This includes RVs, trailers, cars/trucks, boat/car trailer, motorcycle/atv, etc. Vehicles parked in a truck or on a trailer are not counted separately.
