San Clemente State Beach Campgrounds

San Clemente State Beach campgrounds are located at 225 Avenida Calafia in San Clemente. The state beach offers two campgrounds, one designated for RVs or trailers and providing them with full hook-ups. The other called the Tent Campground actually can accept small RVs, but there are no hook-ups. In addition, there are two Group Sites adjacent to the tent campground.

Visitors to San Clemente beaches enjoy fishing and sight-seeing from the San Clemente Pier, relaxing at Calafia Beach, strolling along the San Clemente Beach Trail, and surfing at spots like T Street and Toads. The visitor center has programs for Junior Rangers and Ranger Buddies.

San Clemente Group Campsites

San Clemente State Beach has two group sites adjoined to its tent campground. Group Camp 1 can accommodate up to 50 people and 20 vehicles. It is located on a bluff overlooking the ocean. Beach access is via a steep, paved trail. Group Camp 2 is a tent-only camping area for up to 50 people and 10 vehicles. The maximum vehicle length is 20 feet. Access to the beach is by way of two somewhat steep service roads.

Key San Clemente Beach Campground Regulations

  1. Vehicles must be parked on the pavement within the campsite area.
  2. Fires must be in designated concrete fire rings only.
  3. Pets are not allowed on the beach. They must be in vehicle or tent at night.
  4. Generators may only be operated between the hours of 10 AM and 8 PM.

Be careful when you make your reservation that your vehicles will fit within the space allowed at your site.

Opening and closing dates of campgrounds are only estimates, usually dependent on weather conditions. Not all campsites can accommodate trailers or RVs of all lengths. If using a reservation website, check to be sure your vehicles will fit in the parking space for your campsite.

In order to prevent the spread of invasive insects, obtain firewood locally.
