Deer Creek Campground

Deer Creek Campground is on the north shore of Huntington Lake in the Sierra National Forest. Visitors to Huntington Lake enjoy swimming, boating, fishing, and hiking into the nearby Kaiser Wilderness. Along the lakeshore are resorts, cafes, stores, marinas, boat launch ramps, and picnic areas. The community of Lakeshore and a public launch ramp are near Deer Creek Campground.

Deer Creek Campground has 27 campsites in 2 loops next to the lake. All the campsites have lake views. One loop is heavily forested while the other is more open and sunny. There are 4 double sites. Designated premium lakefront campsites are $2 extra each night. All the campsites can accommodate RVs, trailers, and tents.

There is a minimum 2-night stay on weekends and 3 nights on holiday weekends. Before entering a campsite, campers are asked to check in at the Eastwood CLM office located at the east end of Huntington Lake.

Attractions near Deer Creek Campground: Huntington Lake is well-known for its great boating, waterskiing, sailing, fishing, swimming, and kayaking. Drop in at nearby Rancheria Enterprises where you will find a full marina with boat rentals. At west end of lake visit Billy Creek Guard Station Museum which provides historical overviews of Huntington Lake, Native Americans and the Forest Service.
Lakeshore Resort has lodging, a restaurant, saloon, store, marina, and boat rentals.
Local hiking trails include Rancheria Falls (1 mile), Indian Pools (1 mile) and Black Point (.7 miles). Hiking trails into the Kaiser Wilderness.

Southern California Edison Company operates a series of lakes which provide wonderful opportunities for outdoor recreation. Each of the four lakes - Lake Thomas A. Edison, Florence Lake, Huntington Lake, and Shaver Lake - offers a variety of recreation opportunities. Visitors to Deer Creek Campground at Huntington Lake can make day trips to all of the lakes.


Key Deer Creek Campground Regulations

  1. Quiet time is from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
  2. To avoid bringing in invasive pests, obtain firewood locally.
  3. Keep food and other scented items in bear-proof lockers or canisters.
  4. While in the campground dogs must be on leash and always attended.

General Camping Information

Opening and closing dates of campgrounds are only estimates, usually dependent on weather conditions. Not all campsites can accommodate trailers or RVs of all lengths. If using a reservation website, check to be sure your vehicles will fit in the parking space for your campsite.
