Chilkoot Campground is 4½ miles northeast of Bass Lake in the Sierra National Forest. The rustic campground often has campsites when the campgrounds along the shores of Bass Lake are full. Nearby Bass Lake offers great boating, fishing, waterskiing and other outdoor activities. Marinas and resorts at the lake provide an abundance of services.
Chilkoot Campground has 14 campsites. Three campsites are tents-only. The others can accommodate RVs, trailers, and tents. Eleven of the sites may be reserved under non-specific reservations, which means a specific campsite will be assigned upon arrival. Some sites are on steep slopes and are not suitable for tents. There is no potable water at the campground. A 2-night minimum stay is required on weekends and 3 nights on holiday weekends.
Note: Many hazardous trees around Bass Lake campgrounds, including Chilkoot, have recently been removed, leaving many campgrounds more exposed with fewer trees.
