Steel Bridge Campground is along the Trinity River, 2½ miles off Highway 299 near Douglas City. With its relative seclusion, the campground is often overlooked by passing motorists, but experienced anglers know it offers one of the best base camps in the area for steelhead fishing. Rafting, kayaking, hiking, and swimming are also popular in the area.

Steel Bridge Campground has 12 campsites for RVs, trailers, and tents. There is no potable water available. Supplies are available at the nearby Douglas City Store. All the campsites are first-come, first-served.

Attractions near Steel Bridge Campground: Fishing, kayaking, and rafting are popular in the Trinity River. When water levels are safe, swimming is available. Some like to try their luck gold panning. Opening and closing dates of campgrounds are only estimates, usually dependent on weather conditions. Not all campsites can accommodate trailers or RVs of all lengths. If using a reservation website, check to be sure your vehicles will fit in the parking space for your campsite.

In order to prevent the spread of invasive insects, obtain firewood locally.
