Hutchins Group Campground is on the northwest side of Bucks Lake in the Plumas National Forest. Visitors at the campground enjoy fishing, hiking, mountain biking, and boating. A boat launch ramp is nearby at Sandy Point. A lakeside beach there makes for great swimming (no lifeguard on duty).

Three group sites at Hutchins Group Campground can accommodate RVs, trailers, and tents. Each site holds up to 25 people. The campground is among the trees, a short distance from the lake. Reservations are required.

Attractions and Activities

The uncrowded Plumas National Forest is filled with wonderful places to visit and things to do. For those camping at Hutchins Group Campground, Bucks Lake and many of the attractions in the National Forest are nearby.

  • Hike portions of the famous Pacific Crest Trail.
  • Drive up to Spanish Creek Campground and cool off in the great swimming hole there.
  • Set up your own horseshoe tournament at the horseshoe pits by Greenville Campground.
  • Hike in the Bucks Lake Wilderness.
  • Spend the day at Plumas Eureka State Park.
  • Visit Black Mountain lookout for great views of Honey Lake and surrounding country.
  • Spend some days at Little Grass Valley Recreation Area and enjoy boating, waterskiing, sailing, and fishing.
  • Take a scenic drive through the Indian Valley Area north of Quincy.
  • Horseback ride in Deanes Valley or Lakes Basin.
  • Fish in Lake Davis, Antelope Lake, and round Valley Reservoir.
  • Head out for some OHV excitement at Bucks Lake Recreation Area or Gold Lake.
  • Take your boat out to Lake Davis, Antelope Lake, or Lower Bucks Lake.
