Horton Creek Campground

Horton Creek Campground is 10 miles east of Bishop along the lower slopes of the Eastern Sierra. Campers at Horton Creek appreciate the wide-open space with unobstructed panoramas of the mountains and stunning views of the night sky. Only a short drive away are all the recreation opportunities around South Lake and Sabrina Lake. Hiking trails lead among jagged peaks to spectacular wilderness lakes. Fishing is excellent in the lakes and streams. Rock climbers often use the campground as a base.

Horton Creek Campground is operated by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The campground has 49 campsites for RVs, trailers, and tents spread among sage and rocks. Trees are sparse. Although the campground is supposed to have piped water, recent campers report that the spigots are dry. Call the BLM office in Bishop, (760) 872-5000, to confirm the current water status.

Horton Creek Campground Location: From the North: Take Pine Creek Rd. off Highway 395 north of Bishop. After 1½ miles go left on Round Valley Rd. 2.1 miles to Horton Creek Rd. Follow Horton Creek Rd. less than a mile to the campground.
From the South: Take Sawmill Rd. off 395, then immediately turn right on Round Valley Rd. Follow it 4.1 miles to Horton Creek Rd.
